Rio Grande Scenic Railroad Junior Engineers

Rio Grande Scenic Railroad is pleased to offer our Junior Engineer Program, for kids under 12 years of age, on Mondays and Tuesdays starting in June.

Prior to boarding, Junior Engineers will be able to view a locomotive under repair (in Alamosa only) and ask one of our Rio Grande Engineers questions. All kids enrolled will receive a striped engineer cap and bandana.

Program is available on Mondays and Tuesdays, June 1 through August 31, for all children under 12 with a paid full-price ticket on the San Luis Express that runs between Alamosa and La Veta. No discounts or special offers may apply. Please let the reservationist know how many children wish to participate in the program when you place your reservation.

• Meet an engineer or conductor and have brief minute info session and Q and A in either Alamosa or La Veta
• Photo ops with engine in either Alamosa or La Veta
• Receive a small gift: hat, bandana, and whistle
• Train pamphlet for kids tittled "All Aboard"
• Walk through train with tour from conductor
• Punch their own ticket, put on conductor hat for photo op
• Onboard games
• Only for full priced child tickets. Not valid with any discounts or special offers
• Kids must be under 12 and make request for program when they place their reservation
