Passengers in green find significant savings on mountain rails
Alamosa, Colo. (March 4, 2009) – There is a pot ‘o gold on the other side of the rainbow…and it’s found only on the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad.
In true Irish fashion, the train is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with a very special St. Paddy’s Day Ride, Saturday, March 14. The special ride includes live music and Irish favorites such as green beer, Irish coffee and corned beef sandwiches with cabbage. Food can be purchased separately and enjoyed on the train or as a take-out meal during the one hour stop in the quaint mountain town of La Veta.
For those passengers proudly wearing their Irish green, tickets for the St. Paddy’s Day ride are just $29 each, a full 50% less than the regular price ticket of $58.
During the ride, passengers can enjoy the scenic views among the snow-capped mountain peaks and open San Luis Valley in Southern Colorado while riding the historic train. Passengers can choose to ride in the dome cars, offering a 360° view of the area, or the newly remodeled parlor car, featuring leather couches, revolving captain’s chairs, and a private observation deck.
The train departs from Alamosa at 9 a.m. and returns at 4:45 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 1-877-726-RAIL (7245) or clicking the Buy Tickets link on www.riograndescenicrailroad.com.
