AugustArt in the ParkEvery Sunday through the Summer in Monte Vista in the park from 10 am to 3 pm. Artisians display their wares on tables in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. The Monte Vista Mixed route brings passengers in by 10:30 pm for an hour stop or you could return on the second train at 2:30 pm.

During September, operations over La Veta Pass may be subject to minor delays in order to allow an extended stop at Fir. Our many photographers have requested extra time to capture the majesty of Colorado in the Fall. Schedule adjustments to steam-powered Alamosa - La Veta roundtrips, and to diesel-powered La Veta - Alamosa roundtrips primarily will occur during the afternoon (when the sun's angle is best for photography). This will effect only arrival times at your train's final destination. Layover times in Alamosa and La Veta will not be impacted. Even if you are not a photo buff or professional photographer, we trust all will enjoy these few extra moments at the top of La Veta Pass. You'll be witnessing Colorado at its Fall Finest!
OctoberOktoberfest--October 18thIf you enjoyed our popular summer beerfest Rails & Ales, then you'll want to come back for even more fun in the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad's Oktoberfest. High in the Sangre de Cristo mountains, enjoy a festival with food, music, and plenty of great brewery offerings. This festival is only accessible by train with departures from both Alamosa and La Veta (just 16 miles off Interstate 25).
